Study: Consumers clicking on weight loss email spam
Yet another reason for legitimate email marketers to be diligent about their white hat practices: a recent study found that weight loss email spam shows high sales rates. Consumers, apparently, are still being sucked into the spam trap when it comes to a better body, and legitimate email marketers could suffer by the association. >>

Holiday wrap: $29 billion spent online
The final 2009 Holiday Shopping Season numbers are in from comScore and they are beauties. Overall, researchers note that the ecommerce spend increased by 4% to reach $29.1 billion for the November/December shopping rush. Not bad considering that most firms were predicting the 2009 spend to at most reach 2008 levels; others predicted the '09 spend to decrease. >>

Epsilon: Email open rates over 20%
New data from email marketing firm Epsilon indicates that email continues to grow in importance. The new report, ranking Q3 2009 numbers, found that open rates were up just over 3% year over year for the quarter with click rates increasing by just over 5% (year over year). >>
